The World Is Not Enough - Garbage
I love Bond flicks. I love their title tracks esp. this one and two more that you will see coming very soon. Ok! Overkill. This song just takes Maayne to a new level - Slick.
No one ever died from wanting too much
The world is not enough
But it is such a perfect place to start, my love
Bob Dylan - Mr. Tambourine Man
I think it is wrong that we do not have Bob Dylan mentioned yet on this blog. So, I took this opportunity to tell you that artists like Bob Dylan are missing in contemporary music scene (I dread the day we will lose him). There many other songs by Bob Dylan that I would like to point out but that will be some other time because this post is about Mr. Tambourine Man, which is my favorite. Bob Dylan is a Country Rock artist. Someday when I buy my classic strings, I want to write, compose and sing like him. Ok, maybe not sing. :)
There are many theories regarding the meaning of this song. Tambourine man is not only an old fashioned term for a drug dealer, but also the name of the person that leads the funeral procession in New Orleans, where he spent a lot of time giving birth to beautiful songs. Some say that it was inspired by a guy playing a tambourine during a trip Dylan took to California. Infact, some say that Bob Dylan himself said that he was inspired by a man playing a huge Tambourine. For some others, it is just a lullaby or a drug song. Heh!
I do not know what this song exactly means and I feel that it is a form of extreme art where artists sometimes leave things for your imagination for you to cultivate your own world upon their art. And my imagination says that this song is all about introspection which the writer derives from his life’s retrospection. In other words, you can learn about your inner self if you look at your past. Of course I like this song for another reason; I am usually not sleepy either. :)

Best Fusion: Sweet Child ‘O Mine
This is a piece of music that was published as an advertisement of a music TV channel “Channel [V]“. This shook me more than any other fusion song ever. Sweet Child ‘O Mine has been my favorite since I don’t know when and this one with Sitar and Hindustani Ragas; I feel like I would like have more of this. Unfortunately, this is only a minute long. I think almost everyone who visits this blog will be thrilled by it, after all “We are all Rock Stars”.
Falling Slowly - Glen Hansard and Marketa Irglova
I was reading this article the other day about how to write popular blogs. One of the points it mentioned was Timeless. At that point, my first instinct was to write about this song. It was recorded by Glen Hansard and Marketa Irglova in 2006, as a part of the movie Once. The musical was made out of a $100 budget and managed to make it through to the Oscars. The simpleness with which the movie is shot is amazing.
This song is of personal significance for me as since I have been listening to a lot of artists like Jason Mraz, KT Tunstall, Coldplay, etc. who make heavy use of the guitar.
Not surprisingly, Falling Slowly won the Oscar for the “Best Original Song” at the 2006 Oscars.
Charkha - Wadali Brothers
I would be highly grateful if someone gives me complete lyrics for this song with the proper translation. I can understand some of it and the initial wordings do have a translation in the video itself but I still need the complete lyrics. A beautiful Punjabi song.
Man Smart Woman Smarter
This can be considered a very funny song. This type of music genre originated in Trinidad and is usually called Calypso but I call it Funky Ballads because it is a sort of story telling with much more fun. The title and the song, both are complimentary to each other. No offense to any woman of the world, this song is true in its meaning but is a little short of examples. You gotta give it to Harry; he chose some really funny-unfunny combinations here.
I say let us put man and a woman together
To find out which one is smarter
Some say man but I say no
The woman got the man de day should knowAnd not me but the people they say
That de man are leading de women astray
But I say, that the women of today
Smarter than the man in every way
That’s right de woman is uh smarter
That’s right de woman is uh smarter
That’s right de woman is uh smarter, that’s right, that’s rightEver since the world began
Woman was always teaching man
And I you listen to my bid attentively
I goin’ tell you how she smarter than meSamson was the strongest man long ago
No one could a beat him, as we all know
Until he clash with Deliah on top of the bed
She told them all the strength was in the hair of his headYou meet a girl at a pretty dance
Thinking that you would stand a chance
Take her home, thinking she’s alone
Open de door you find her husband homeI was treating a girl independently
She was making baby for me
When de baby born and I went to see
Eyes was blue it was not by meGarden of Eden was very nice
Adam never work in Paradise
Eve meet snake, Paradise gone
She make Adam work from that day onMethusaleh spent all his life in tears
Lived without a woman for 900 years
One day he decided to have some fun
The poor man never lived to see 900 and one
What A Wonderful World - Louis Armstrong
This song proves that you do not need a pleasant voice to mesmerize your audiences. I have been listening to this song a lot and though there are other people who have sung and performed this song but I like the Louis Armstrong’s version the best. Original is original.
Lyrics can be found here. Do read them, they’re awesome and make you feel better when you are not.
Put Some New Shoes On!
This song talks about how much better your life could be if only you put on a pair of new shoes :p
Its also the background score for the new Puma Commercial.
