Maayne is the roman script representation of the urdu word, that translates to ‘meaning‘ in english. This blog is ostensibly meant to share, discuss and debate music and prose.
Music does not need Lyrics to convey meaning. In fact, it does not need to have a defined meaning attached to it at all. Like all other forms of art, it is the way people relate to it, cherish it and form an emotional bond with it that gives music its endearing nature. We are not going to restrict ourselves to any subset of music, rather, this blog is a journal of our individual and combined explorations of music as such.
As you will find if you have read some of the posts here, we currently have 3 writers. There’s Aman, who is in love with Urdu Poetry and Punjabi but every now and then blogs about an amazing song in the English language. Sameer, on the other hand, has a wide choice of music and you never know what you will get next. Finally, there’s Ankit, he’s more passionate about English music of all kinds of genre.
The written word is by nature more structured than music. It is also, by nature, more explicit in its presentation of content - unless, of course, its written by a playful master of words. The best written prose can trigger almost any reaction nerve that it wants to in its reader. This blog is also about that.
So, this blog is dedicated to beautiful music, and meaningful prose. There is so much to that combination, that we will probably never be able to cover the whole of it. Yet, in our attempts, we are bound to discover perspectives we didn’t think of before, and meet people with similar interests.
